Fatty liver disease also known as fatty liver disease is a condition caused by the accumulation of fat.

Fatty liver has 4 stages as follows: 

  • Stage 1: Fat accumulates in the liver, but there is no inflammation or fibrosis. Usually does not cause symptoms. 
  • Stage 2: The liver begins to become inflamed. If left untreated for more than 6 months, it may become chronic hepatitis.  
  • Stage 3: Liver fibrosis and inflammation become more severe. Liver cells gradually destroye. 
  • Stage 4: Liver cells are severely damaged and cannot function normally. Cirrhosis occurs, leading to liver cancer. Therefore, urgent treatment is require.

What causes fatty liver?

It can occur from many factors, from underlying diseases, diet, and genetics. Let’s see what we should be careful about to reduce the risk of fatty liver. The common causes are as follows:

1. Drinking alcohol

Drinking too much is very risky. Alcohol that is consumed will converte into toxic substances and destroy liver cells. It also interferes with the process of burning fat in the liver, causing fat to accumulate until it becomes fatty liver and may eventually develop into cirrhosis and liver cancer

2. Have a chronic disease or complications.

It is another important factor that causes fat to accumulate in the liver in excessive amounts, until it becomes fatty liver, such as obesity, diabetes, thyroid disease, high blood pressure, high blood fat, diseases related to the metabolic system, infection with hepatitis B and C viruses , or HIV infection, including side effects from certain medications.

3. Eating behavior
